Scientific publisher World Scientific Publishing Company has announced the launch of a new open access journal - Optics and Photonics Letters, starting 2008. The new journal is projected to offer rapid dissemination of original and timely results in various fields of optics and photonics, with emphasis on peer-reviewed short communications.
Michael A Fiddy of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Larry X.C. Yuan of the Nanyang Technological University and Hugo Thienpont of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel will serve as Editors-in-chief. All articles submitted for publication before January 2008 will benefit from a 50 percent waiver on publication charges.
In addition, the publisher has announced that all World Scientific and Imperical College Press Journals will offer open access option. Authors will now have the option to pay $2,500 for their articles to be open access. Open access choice will apply to all of World Scientific and Imperial College Press journals with electronic version.
