Today, thanks to the pandemic, there is a lot of buzz around digital workspaces. This increasing attention has spawned multiple interpretations of what digital workspace means and sown confusion among enterprises on implementing it in their business. Hence, there is a need for a standard set of definitions for the various components in the digital workspace ecosystem to help businesses deploy the right digital workspace technologies. For this reason, the Digital Workspace Ecosystem Alliance (DWEA) released a whitepaper detailing a taxonomy of the digital workspace ecosystem.
The whitepaper details the eight primary functional areas of a digital workspace, the technologies in use, and the vendors who can deliver in those areas. DWEA has released the whitepaper to help users build their roadmaps of the layers of the digital workspace stack and the vendors they need. The whitepaper is also targeted at the channel partner community, for they will be servicing the growing number of end-user businesses.
A standard digital workspace ecosystem taxonomy will help small and medium-sized businesses in their application of the technology. Furthermore, big enterprise customers will find the taxonomy useful for setting common, understandable policies for those working on the ground across multiple geographies and diverse operations.
