Amazon Releases Kendra to Solve Enterprise Search Challenges with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning -

The overarching goal of all in-house enterprise search engines is to operate like Google. Unlike Google, enterprises have substantially less amount of content to work with. The overarching goal of all in-house enterprise search engines is to operate like Google. Unlike Google, enterprises have substantially less amount of content to work with. This lack of content is at the root of all enterprise search engine challenges because more the data more Google-like response. Many enterprises are attempting to overcome the challenges posed to enterprise search by using today’s technology, and Amazon is one among them.

Amazon has taken a slightly different track. It is trying to change the enterprise search game by putting Amazon Kendra, its cloud enterprise search product, into a more modern machine learning-driven context. Amazon Kendra uses natural language processing to allow users to simply ask a question, then searches across the repositories connected to the search engine to find a precise answer.

In practice, Amazon Kendra allows end-users to search across multiple silos of data using real questions. Furthermore, it leverages machine-learning models under the hood to understand the content of documents and the relationships between them to deliver the precise answers instead of a random list of links.

The search engine, in addition, is tuned for specific industries including IT, healthcare, and insurance. This means enterprises across these industries will have a head start when it comes to searching because the system will understand the language-specific to these industries.

Enterprise search has been around and it will be around for a long time. Amazon’s entry into the enterprise search game has given rise to the expectation that perhaps by bringing artificial intelligence and machine learning to bear, the challenges constraining enterprise search could be solved once and for all.
