An Alliance for Unlocking the Value of Scientific Data -

The Pistoia Alliance is currently working on an initiative, the Semantic Enrichment of ELN Data (SEED), to bridge the gap between disorganized information and usable data in Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELNs). The project aims to efficiently pave the way for users to extract data and enhance collaboration opportunities with semantic enrichment.

The first phase of the project involved the development of new standard assay ontologies for ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion), PD (Pharmacodynamic), and drug safety to bridge the gap in existing ontologies. These new ontologies have now been added to the BioAssay Ontology (BAO).

Furthermore, the cross-pharma project team built new standards, added them to the BAO, and then used the latest standards in the semantic enrichment process. In the next phase, the goal is to develop a set of standards for ELN data structure across the pharma and life science industries and align them with FAIR principles.
