How Knowledge Graphs Help in Agile Data Integration -

A common theme that runs across enterprise data management systems’ use cases is the importance of understanding the structure, location, and governance of data. This understanding is essential for meeting compliance requirements or understanding customers and products better. However, it is not enough for agile enterprises to know something; agile enterprises have to know what they know. The challenge is in overcoming these contradictory requirements.

For agile data integration, there should be no restraints like following enterprise data standards because if one application has to be aware of another application's requirements, it will cripple application development. On the other hand, if enterprises want to know what they know and cope with a dynamic business world, there should be a disciplined understanding of enterprise data.

Knowledge graphs can help bridge this contradiction. A knowledge graph can support agile development and data integration while connecting data across the enterprise. It is ideally suited to support the vision of a data fabric in an enterprise by changing the way scalable enterprise data management is conceived. Furthermore, knowledge graphs help represent knowledge and link it to data and emphasize the connected nature of data.
