Report on Industry’s Use of Knowledge Graphs -

A new benchmarking report released at the recently concluded The Knowledge Graph Conference illustrates how corporates embrace semantic standards and knowledge graph technology. The report based on a survey of 240 companies in multiple sectors highlights how enhancing decision-making capabilities and supporting business innovation are the drivers for the uptake of knowledge graphs.

According to the report, knowledge graph adoption is still in its infancy. 50% of the responders were conducting pilots or proof of concepts primarily for limited use cases, and 35% developed extensible/scalable platforms based on reusable architecture using expanded design principles.

Integration, harmonization, entity resolution, inventory, lineage, and identity management representing the organization's data management infrastructure and data fabric components make up 60% of the primary use cases. Additionally, business applications such as data discovery, financial reporting, and customer profiling built from this underlying data fabric represent just under 40% of the use cases.

Furthermore, the report identifies overcoming organizational inertia, navigating the skills gap, dealing with budgetary constraints, and governance maturity as significant barriers to knowledge graph adoption.
