STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has announced that it will be the official publisher of the peer-reviewed quarterly journal Energy for Sustainable Development, starting January 2009. The global publisher will publish the journal on behalf of the International Energy Initiative (IEI). The first issue of 2009 will be freely available at http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/09730826.
Elsevier, in close co-operation with the IEI and the editors of the journal, will aim to further enhance the profile, impact, and international exposure of the journal. It will seek to considerably broaden the journal's access to readers and authors, and to the key target groups of decision makers, managers, consultants, policy makers, analysts, planners and researchers. This will be done by enabling online submission of articles and by including the journal into online platforms ScienceDirect and Scopus.
The back volumes of the journal will be included into ScienceDirect as of early 2009, going back to Volume 1, Issue 1. This will make the journal accessible online to over 11 million scientists via ScienceDirect. The journal will also be included in the United Nation's online access programmes for the developing world - AGORA and OARE - providing free or low-cost access to qualifying developing countries.
