Springer, FIZ Karlsruhe sign new editor agreement for mathematics journal/database -

STM publisher Springer, Germany, and scientific information services provider FIZ Karlsruhe, Germany, have announced that they will continue their publishing partnership on the mathematics journal/database Zentralblatt für Mathematik/Zentralblatt MATH. The new version of the editor agreement has now been signed by both contracting parties and by two further editors, the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the European Mathematical Society. This new contractual framework was necessary to ensure that this long-standing publication can provide its users with the latest technology in the digital age.

Zentralblatt für Mathematik was set up by Springer-Verlag in 1931. From the very beginning, the journal has aimed to provide up-to-date and comprehensive information about scientific progress in mathematics and its applications. Since then, the specialist mathematical literature has been processed by experts and made available in the form of selected reviews. Zentralblatt MATH lists bibliographic entries of all publications in journals and books that have undergone the peer-review process before their original publication. Selected papers are reviewed, with a total of more than 6,100 reviewers working throughout the world. Twenty-four printed volumes are currently published every year.

In the wake of increasing digitalisation, the journal has now developed into a comprehensive database (ZMATH) with more than 2.7 million entries and another 100,000 added every year. This shift from the printed version to an online database is reflected in the new editor agreement, which guarantees that the service can be refined in line with the latest technological standards. Sophisticated search features and intelligent navigation and ranking methods take priority in the platform's future development. In the present age of information overkill, the combination of the latest technical functionalities and the high quality of the content ensures that researchers can find the relevant literature quickly and efficiently.
