Electronic research databases provider EBSCO Publishing, a division of EBSCO Industries, Inc., US, has announced the acquisition of NISC, Inc. NISC publishes a full range of bibliographic, abstract, and full-text databases. This acquisition is projected to augment EBSCO's database offerings.
EBSCO Publishing has had a longstanding partnership with NISC. The addition of NISC databases to EBSCOhost will enable the company to offer a richer collection of databases to better serve researchers. Many of the databases acquired from NISC are already available on EBSCOhost and several others will soon migrate to the EBSCOhost platform.
NISC customers have been notified of the acquisition, and that access to NISC databases via the BiblioLine interface would be discontinued as of April 17, 2009. The vast majority of NISC customers are also EBSCOhost customers, so in most cases it is expected that the transition to using the EBSCOhost interface will be simple.
