Educational publisher Jones and Bartlett Publishers, Inc. (J&B), US, has entered into a long-term strategic partnership with the Mexican Red Cross (MRC). Under the deal, J&B and MRC will educate Spanish-speaking prehospital providers worldwide. Together, both companies will meet the growing demand for Spanish-language training materials in safety, emergency response, and rescue.
J&B and MRC will begin this initiative with the publication of the Spanish-language edition of Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured. Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured is the gold standard EMT-Basic training programme. Originally published in 1971 by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and now in its Ninth Edition, this text has shaped the field of emergency medical services throughout the English-speaking world.
J&B and MRC seek to make this flagship text available to the Spanish-speaking world. Series Editor Andrew N. Pollak and Publisher Kimberly Brophy will reveal the plans for this project, which is scheduled to publish in September 2009, during the MRC's annual conference on November 13-14, 2008 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
