STM publisher Springer, Germany, has announced the launch a new journal, Applied Geomatics. The journal will be the official publication of the Italian Society of Photogrammetry and Topography (SIFET). Professor Alessandro Capra of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia has been appointed Editor-in-Chief.
A quarterly publication, Applied Geomatics will cover all aspects of scientific and technical advances in the geomatic sciences. The journal will publish innovative contributions in geomatics applications covering the integration of instruments, methodologies and technologies and their use in engineering, environmental and other natural sciences. After the appearance of the first issue in April 2009, the journal will be available free of charge on www.springerlink.com throughout 2009 and 2010.
The journal will cover many research fields, among them remote sensing, image analysis, digital mapping, and land and geographic information systems. In addition to original papers, reviews and short communications, it will also contain notices of conferences and international workshops, industry news, and information on new products. The journal will include the features Online First, Cross Reference Linking, and Alert services.
