STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has announced a new publishing partnership with The Society of Powder Technology Japan (SPTJ). Under the deal, the global publisher will publish the latter's international journal, Advanced Powder Technology, starting January 2009.
A bimonthly publication, Advanced Powder Technology integrates all aspects of research on powder engineering and technology through publication of original research papers and reviews, including translations of papers originally published in Japanese. The journal seeks to address both fundamental and applied aspects of powder and particulate material research making it a valuable resource for researchers in both academia and industry.
Established in 1956 as the Research Association of Powder Technology, the association changed its name to the Society of Powder Technology, Japan (SPTJ) in January 1978. The Society publishes its own official journal, the Journal of Powder Technology, Japan. Active for more than half a century, the Japanese-language publication has published over 540 issues to date. In response to Society members' demand for a publication in the English language, the quarterly journal Advanced Powder Technology was established in 1990 as the international journal of SPTJ, and has been published bimonthly since 2003.
