EBSCO Publishing acquires Salem Press -

Electronic research databases provider EBSCO Publishing, a division of EBSCO Industries, Inc., US, has announced the acquisition of US-based publisher Salem Press. This a natural extension of a longtime relationship as Salem Press content has been a mainstay in EBSCO database offerings for many years, including various Magill products and the Masterplots series.

The deal is the result of a natural synergy that exists with book content & database subjects. Salem Press is a publisher of material in areas where EBSCOhost provides leading resources, including literature, history and consumer health. EBSCO will bring digitisation, indexing and platform expertise to the Salem Press content, providing the means for a larger reach with this content. EBSCOhost claims to be the most-used for-fee research service available in tens of thousands of institutions worldwide.

Salem Press publishes reference works on literature, history and biography, the social sciences and the sciences suitable for adult and young adult readers spanning all educational venues. Reference materials are both printed and electronic. The company distributes its work to college, school and public libraries.
