Lyon library joins Google's Book Search Library project -

Internet search services provider Google, Inc., US, has announced that the municipal library of Lyon has joined Google's Book Search Library project. The Library is France's second largest library after the national library in Paris, and is the first French library to join the project.

Under the initiative, more than 500,000 books from the library will be available online as part of the project. Internet users will now be able to access out-of-copyrights works, searchable through Google Book Search, with the chance to download the full texts from the historic and special collections. It also includes works in German, Spanish, Italian, Latin and English, which will be added to Google's multilingual index.

The Lyon Municipal Library is the 29th library to join the project, which also includes Stanford University, Oxford University, Harvard University and Princeton University.
