Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc., US, has announced a new publishing partnership with The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS). TMS is a member-driven professional society consisting largely of materials scientists and engineers working in industry, academia, and government, as well as students studying in the materials field.
Under the deal, Wiley will publish, on behalf of TMS, books and resources encompassing the entire range of materials science and engineering, from minerals processing and primary metals production to basic research and the advanced applications of materials. In addition to forthcoming co-published titles, Wiley will distribute all published titles sold formerly through the society.
TMS is a major publisher in the materials community and publishes proceedings, textbooks, CD-ROMs, software, and more. Included among its nearly 10,000 professional and student members are metallurgical and materials engineers, scientists, researchers, educators, and administrators from more than 70 countries on six continents. The society derives its strength from these members, many of whom take a hands-on approach to shaping the policy, programming and publications of the society by volunteering within one of the technical divisions.
