CAS and InfoChem partner to create new technologies to enhance the discovery of chemical patents and more -

Chemical information provider Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), a division of the American Chemical Society, has announced a long term collaboration with InfoChem, GmbH (InfoChem), Germany.

Under the new collaboration, research teams at CAS and InfoChem will work together to explore the technology frontiers in the field of cheminformatics. The partners will also continue to focus on chemical substance information and the ways to extract, derive, store, communicate and interpret that information.

CAS and InfoChem have successfully worked together in the area of chemical information content since 1997. InfoChem focuses on the production and marketing of new chemical information products, including structural and reaction databases, and the development of software tools required for these applications. The main software tools provided are the InfoChem Chemistry Cartridge for Oracle (ICCARTRIDGE) and the widely used InfoChem reaction classification algorithm CLASSIFY.

In addition, InfoChem provides tools for the automatic recognition and extraction of chemical entities and their conversion into chemical structures as well as the semantic enrichment of chemical science documents.
