Future Science Group journals report significant gains in 2011 impact factor rankings -

Publisher Future Science Group (FSG), UK, has announced that all three companies operating under the FSG banner saw significant Impact Factor (IF) advances with 81 percent of titles showing improved performance.

Journal Citation Reports (JCR) published by Thomson Reuters aim to provide a systematic, objective means to critically evaluate the world's leading journals. The IF helps evaluate the relative impact of a journal in its field and reflects the frequency of citation of the journal. The 2011 IF takes into account citations in 2011 to papers published during 2009 and 2010.

The Future Science Group is an alliance of three independent publishing companies – Future Science Ltd, Future Medicine Ltd and Expert Reviews Ltd. The chemistry programme under the Future Science Ltd imprint fared particularly well, with the IF for Bioanalysis more than doubling to 3.22 and 77 percent growth to 2.52 for Future Medicinal Chemistry.

Future Medicine Ltd also had some excellent results, led by a 240 percent increase in IF for Immunotherapy, a 111 percent increase to 2.63 for Biomarkers in Medicine, and over one point increase for Future Microbiology to 3.82.

Similarly, there was an increase in IF for 75 percent of Expert Review titles, with a 250 percent increase to 2.07 for Expert Review of Clinical Immunology. The IF for Expert Review of Molecular Diagnostics has now risen to 4.86.

The Future Science Group companies’ coverage is expanding in 2013 with several new journal launches in oncology and in pharmaceutical R&D. Next year also sees the launch of the 'Ask the Expert' ebook series from Expert Reviews – a programme that adopts a highly practical didactic format addressing key issues of modern clinical practice.
