UK-based online publishing services provider Semantico Ltd has won the contract to redesign the web publishing platform used to deliver Now Publishers' series of Foundations and Trends reference journals. 'Now' is a rapidly growing, forward thinking publishing house whose products make research accessible worldwide.
Semantico will redesign and reengineer the existing 'Now' platform using industry respected technologies Scolaris and SAMS. Scolaris is the next generation integrated content platform, engineered to manage the complexities of journals, ebooks, reference works and dictionaries. Scolaris promotes discoverability by providing intelligent, full-text search which allows rich taxonomy support for faceted search and browse.
SAMS, Semantico’s renowned access management system will be used to generate greater subscription opportunities for 'Now'. SAMS claims to be the most widely used access management system in its class and integrates seamlessly with Scolaris to control access across users and institutions, as well as providing a host of flexible options for business models and optimal monetisation of content.
The new site will showcase Now's journals collection and Foundations and Trends (FnT) products. Each FnT covers a major branch of a scientific discipline and provides state-of-the-art review articles by leaders in their field. Each review is up to 150 pages providing a complete review of the topic. FnT combines the peer-review of journals, the high-usage of reference works and the pedagogy of textbooks.
