STM publisher Springer has announced that with the adoption of the journal Frontiers in Physics into the Science Citation Index (SCI), a total of 45 journals from Springer's Chinese Library of Science are now listed in the Thomson Reuters index. With this new addition, almost half (48%) of all English-language journals reporting on cutting-edge research in China and listed in the SCI are from the Springer stable. Springer's Chinese Library of Science currently includes 93 journals, with their content available online in a full-text database at www.springerlink.com.
According to the newly published Journal Citation Reports (JCR) 2009, the 'rising star' among Chinese journals is the Springer magazine Nano Research. It claims to be the first international Open Access magazine to appear in China. The journal, jointly published with Tsinghua University Press since 2008, immediately achieved an impact factor of 4.37, putting it in second place among China's top hundred scientific journals. In the subject categories Physical Chemistry, Multidisciplinary Materials Science, Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, and Applied Physics, the journal ranks in the top quarter of all listed journals. It is the only Chinese publication in the top ten percent of international journals covering Material Science.
JCR 2009 also places the leading Chinese Academy of Science journals Science China Series and Chinese Science Bulletin among the top scientific publications. The eight titles are also part of Springer's Chinese programme.
