Educational publisher Gale, part of Cengage Learning, US, has announced an agreement with academic publisher Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co. KG. Under the deal, Gale will distribute De Gruyter periodicals through a number of its academic resources.
Titles included are academic periodicals in the areas of medicine, religion, sociology and archaeology, plus heavy coverage of linguistics. Of the 37 periodicals included in this agreement, 35 are peer reviewed.
An independent academic publishing house, De Gruyter publishes over 800 new titles in the humanities, medicine, science and law and more than 120 journals and digital media. In 2006, the publisher acquired K.G. Saur and Max Niemeyer to form one of the largest publishing houses in Europe.
