Engineering and scientific research publisher WIT Press, UK, has announced a co-publication agreement with China-based Science Press, Ltd. The new collaboration makes available in English seminal works originally published in Chinese that will be of interest to the global scientific and technical community.
The first four books from the Chinese Science Today collection will be available in November. These include: Fundamentals of Wavelets, Mechanics of Granular Matter, Environmental Innovation in China and Co-evolutionary Algorithm & Multi-agent systems.
Fundamentals of Wavelets is designed to meet the needs of researchers from various scientific disciplines who can use wavelets to solve problems. It demonstrates that wavelets are not only the microscopes and telescopes in mathematics but also that it is not necessary to have a detailed theoretical knowledge for using them to solve problems.
Mechanics of Granular Matter focuses on the basic mechanics and underlying physics of granular material, starting with an introduction to contact mechanics of individual particles before moving on to a discussion of the structure of force chain networks and the influence on bulk mechanical properties of granular solids and granular flows.
Environmental Innovation in China acknowledges many of the historical mistakes that have been made in China where economic development has resulted in pollution of land, air and water. It presents a blueprint for the future with the recommendation that a National Environmental Innovation Action Plan be established.
Co-evolutionary Algorithm & Multi-agent systems focuses on systems in which many intelligent agents interact with each other. Today these systems are not simply a research topic but are also becoming an important subject of academic teaching and industrial and commercial application.
