Licensing solutions provider Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), US, has announced that The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has chosen CCC's RightsLink for Open Access to manage article processing charges for all of its open access journal publications. This includes the recently launched, The Journal of Engineering.
Publishers must provide a seamless article processing charge (APC) payment experience for authors and universities while demonstrating policy compliance to funding agencies. As they collect APCs from their authors, publishers must manage publishing requirements from funders and offer licensing options at the article level that are consistent with a publisher's Open Access policies. Moreover, publishers must continually measure and test their OA business models – all with a focus on building a sustainable business. RightsLink for Open Access is a flexible solution that automates these processes.
According to the company, RightsLink provides the most comprehensive OA solution on the market. RightsLink for Open Access can be integrated with a journal-production system or manuscript-submission workflow, providing publishers a secure way to manage APCs, submission charges, page and colour charges, and author reprints. Further, RightsLink also allows publishers to offer 'OA aware' licenses at the article level from their websites 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, providing publishers with a complete OA solution from manuscript acceptance through post-publication licensing.
