Healthcare information provider Wolters Kluwer Health, US, has announced that Health Shared Services British Columbia (HSSBC) has signed a multi-year contract with Lexicomp on behalf of the Health Authorities it represents following an extensive evaluation process.
Part of Wolters Kluwer Health, Lexicomp provides medical information and clinical content solutions for the healthcare industry. It provides the tools necessary to help improve patient safety, ensure compliance, and elevate the quality of care patients receive. The contract, which covers 57 acute sites and 5,769 acute beds, gives clinicians hospital-wide access to Lexicomp Online with three Health Authorities implementing Lexicomp. These include Vancouver Coastal Health (including Providence Health Care), Fraser Health Authority and Vancouver Island Health Authority.
These Health Authorities now have access to two independent drug information resources through Lexicomp Online - Lexi-Drugs and the American Hospital Formulary Service (AHFS). The systems feature a variety of medication topics including paediatric, adult and geriatric dosing and guidelines, adverse effects, drug interactions and patient education, I.V. compatibility, pregnancy and lactation and many more.
Lexicomp training has been in progress since the beginning of June immediately following HSSBC's finalisation of the contract. Lexicomp staff visited about 23 sites for on-site training that reached more than 300 professionals.
