Springer announces publishing partnership with French intensive care society -

STM publisher Springer is set to publish two journals for the Société de Réanimation de Langue Française (SRLF), a French intensive care society. Starting in 2011, Springer will publish Réanimation, formerly published by Elsevier, and a new open access journal in English called Annals of Intensive Care (AIC).

Réanimation is published in French every two months and is distributed using the traditional subscription model. While the journal will continue to publish review articles for the continuing education of doctors working in intensive care medicine, it will now also feature original articles.

Also included in this cooperation is a new journal, Annals of Intensive Care. This open access, e-only journal is published in English and will be fully accessible to anyone via the Internet. The SRLF sees this as an ideal opportunity to present scientific papers by intensive care practitioners from French-speaking countries and promote the aims of the society at an international level.

Annals of Intensive Care is a further addition to the open access initiative Springer began last summer called SpringerOpen. The SpringerOpen journals are published under the Creative Commons Attributions License, which facilitates the open distribution of copyrighted work. Springer will not reserve any exclusive commercial rights.
