Academic publisher SAGE has announced a new publishing agreement with the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO). Under the deal, SAGE will publish the latter’s official journal, Prosthetics and Orthotics International, from 2011.

Launched in 1977, Prosthetics and Orthotics International is an international scientific publication in the field of prosthetics and orthotics. A multidisciplinary journal, it is aimed at all professionals who have an interest in the medical, clinical, rehabilitation, technical, educational and research aspects of prosthetics, orthotics and rehabilitation engineering, as well as their related topics.

The journal acts as a key vehicle for ISPO’s mission to enhance the quality of life for people with physical disabilities who require improvements in mobility or independence. It publishes review articles, experimental and clinical research papers, case studies, technical notes, reports and book reviews, as well as information about ISPO activities and the outcomes of the ISPO consensus conferences and working groups.

The first SAGE-published issue of Prosthetics and Orthotics International will be March 2011. The journal is published four times a year. The new journal website will be http://poi.sagepub.com.
