Maney Publishing and Durham University partner for archaeology PhD studentships -

Academic publisher Maney Publishing has announced a partnership with Durham University to offer three-year scholarships for UK/EU archaeology PhD students.

The scholarship includes full fees for three years and an annual £3,000 stipend, which is contingent on the student making satisfactory progress in his or her annual review. Ideal candidates will be undertaking doctoral studies in the archaeology of the Levant and Eastern Mediterranean.

Topics of interest for 2015 include measuring, assessing and managing damage, preservation and care of archaeological monuments and sites in Syria; settlement studies in the Middle East, in particular utilising remote sensing techniques; investigation of Graeco-Roman and Islamic burial practices in the Levant; and investigation of animal management strategies in Syria-Palestine from the Neolithic to the Iron Age, using isotopic analysis of faunal material.

Interested applicants should submit a CV and cover letter to the Durham University Postgraduate Secretary, Ronan O'Donnell at pgarch.admissions@durham.ac.uk with 'Maney Studentship' in the subject line. The closing date for submissions is June 30, 2015. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to attend an interview in mid-September.
