The British Institute of Radiology and Publons partner to recognise reviewers -

The British Institute of Radiology (BIR) has announced the launch of its partnership with Publons, a free service for researchers to track, verify and showcase their reviewing and editorial contributions.

Through the partnership, experts who review for BJR can choose to instantly add a verified record of every review performed to their Publons profile, as evidence of their valuable contribution. BJR reviewers will simply opt-in to the Publons service when prompted during the review submission process.

Those who are concerned about how this might impact reviewer confidentiality need not worry. Publons provides verified credit for peer review without compromising reviewer anonymity or infringing upon journal review models. By default, only the year of the review and the journal title will be shown on reviewer profiles, unless both the journal and reviewer has actively selected an alternative setting.

Publons' mission is to speed up research by harnessing the power of great peer review. By working with publishers, institutions and researchers, Publons is turning peer review into a measurable output that can be used to demonstrate a researcher's standing, impact and influence in their field. By making peer review a rewarding activity Publons and the BIR aim to improve the quality and efficiency of both peer review and research.
