Academic and Research Libraries Acquisitions Consortium renews agreement with EBSCO’s GOBI Library Solutions -

The Academic and Research Libraries Acquisitions Consortium (ARLAC) has renewed its agreement for three years with GOBI® Library Solutions from EBSCO (GOBI Library Solutions) for the supply of books, with an extension to include electronic books and related services.

ARLAC is composed of the State Library of Victoria, La Trobe University, RMIT University, Federation University Australia, Victoria University, Charles Darwin University, University of Tasmania and Flinders University.

The consortium aims to achieve maximum value of its expenditure on books through favourable pricing, as well as access to a range of cost-effective ancillary services such as the supply of MARC records and pre-processing of books. ARLAC members will benefit from GOBI Library Solutions’ customer service offerings, speedy delivery of books and operating efficiencies through integration of GOBI Library Solutions systems with the member libraries’ Integrated Library Systems (ILS). ARLAC members will also have access to the GOBI interface, with end users benefitting from access to the largest collection of scholarly published content.

Under this agreement, ARLAC libraries have access to more than 14 million print books and 2.5 million e-books on more than 25 platforms. GOBI also offers 850,000 DRM-free titles on both publisher and aggregator platforms, including 130,000 available from EBSCO eBooks™. GOBI supports library workflows and collection development strategies, so libraries can choose from a variety of acquisition options, including recent support for eCollections and Evidence-Based Acquisitions (EBA). GOBI also allows libraries to streamline workflows, which saves time for library staff.
