Dow and CAS partner to accelerate R&D capabilities and efficiency -

Materials science company Dow, and CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society, have established a strategic collaboration focused on digital capabilities that accelerate research and development and identify new opportunities within key growth areas around the world.

Dow and CAS have been long-time collaborators with a shared vision to facilitate innovation and discovery. Their latest collaboration leverages a tailored CAS Custom Services solution designed on a foundation of specialized CAS technologies, data science, and the CAS Content Collection™ to empower efficiencies in Dow’s research processes that improve efficiency and productivity.

In the initial phase of a planned multi-phased approach, CAS has developed a search and retrieval platform with customized scientific information filtering that accelerates the identification of new materials. The new solution from CAS replaces a highly labor-intensive, manual process. When fully adopted, researchers can execute the process in a matter of hours when before it wouldhave been a weeks-long process. This enables Dow to identify the best material to solve specific challenges from a database of hundreds of millions of potential options.

The CAS Content Collection covers scientific advances over the last 150 years in over 50 languages from journal and patent publications. It includes references, chemical substances, proteins, reactions, physical and chemical properties, formulations, bioactivity data, and much more. Sourced, curated, and connected by a team of hundreds of scientists, it is the largest and highest quality collection of human-curated scientific information in the world. The CAS Custom Services team works with organizations globally to design custom solutions that drive discovery.
