Sage collaborates with Ludenso to trial augmented reality textbook for nursing students -

Academic publisher Sage has announced a partnership with Ludenso, an augmented reality (AR) authoring platform, to launch a trial of an augmented reality textbook for nursing students. The trial, currently taking place at the University of Ulster, introduces augmented reality into the textbook "Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology for Nursing Practice" by Neal Cook, Andrea Shepherd, and Jennifer Boore. Through the Ludenso app, students can explore interactive 3D models of human anatomy and physiology, enriching their learning experience.

The integration of augmented reality in the textbook offers a visual tool that supports students in a demanding program, enabling them to learn independently while providing faculty with a high-quality resource to enhance their teaching. The interactive 3D models, including a beating heart, segments of the brain, and the optical nerve, present an opportunity to increase engagement and assist students in comprehending complex topics within the nursing degree.

The trial has garnered positive feedback from participants, demonstrating the potential of augmented reality in education. Sage is now inviting additional institutions to participate in testing the AR textbook in their classrooms. Institutions interested in participating in the trial are encouraged to reach out to david.lin@sagepub.co.uk for more information.

As the use of augmented reality in education continues to grow, this partnership between Sage and Ludenso showcases the commitment to innovative teaching and learning methods. By leveraging augmented reality technology, academic publishers and educators aim to create more immersive and interactive learning experiences that can enhance student engagement and understanding across various disciplines.
