McGraw Hill, a global leader in education, has announced the introduction of two cutting-edge generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools designed to enrich the learning experience for students and streamline instructional support for educators across K-12 and higher education. These new tools, AI Reader and Writing Assistant, are integrated within McGraw Hill’s widely used learning platforms, offering personalized, interactive educational experiences.
The AI Reader tool, now available in select eBooks for college students, and Writing Assistant, a new feature currently being tested for grades 6-12, represent McGraw Hill's first foray into embedding GenAI capabilities into its products. This innovation builds on the company's long-standing use of AI in its ALEKS platform, which has been a staple in math and chemistry instruction for over 25 years.
AI Reader is designed to transform the eBook reading experience for college students by offering interactive, real-time support. Integrated into McGraw Hill's eBook platform, the tool allows students to highlight text and request alternative explanations, simplified language, or even a quick quiz to assess their understanding. This feature aims to promote deeper, inquiry-based learning, helping students engage more actively with their course material.
AI Reader is now available in select eBooks through McGraw Hill Connect and McGraw Hill GO, providing students with a more hands-on, personalized approach to learning.
The Writing Assistant tool is poised to revolutionize writing instruction for middle and high school students by providing real-time feedback and guidance throughout the writing process. Embedded within McGraw Hill’s Actively Learn and Achieve3000 Literacy programs, this tool is being tested in select school districts this fall. It aims to help students overcome the initial hurdles of writing, while enabling educators to provide personalized support to more students in a busy classroom setting.
The Writing Assistant will allow teachers to track student growth and ability more efficiently, reducing time spent on administrative tasks and increasing their capacity to offer meaningful feedback. Following its beta testing phase, the tool is expected to be rolled out more broadly.
McGraw Hill’s introduction of these GenAI tools marks a significant step forward in personalized education. By integrating AI into the learning process, the company aims to provide students with more tailored and effective educational experiences, while also empowering educators to better support student growth and achievement.
As these tools continue to develop and expand, McGraw Hill remains committed to enhancing the academic journey for students and educators alike, from K-12 through higher education and beyond.
