Clarivate Plc, a global leader in transformative intelligence, has launched the Web of Science™ Research Assistant, a generative AI-powered tool designed to accelerate and enrich the research process. This advanced tool enables researchers to find essential papers quickly, handle complex research tasks efficiently, and visualize connections within their fields of study.
The Web of Science Research Assistant is integrated with the Web of Science Core Collection™, leveraging over 120 years of trusted publication and citation data. Using a chat interface and knowledge graph, the tool offers flexible search capabilities, including natural language queries in multiple languages, and delivers comprehensive overviews of topics, revealing connections between concepts and papers.
Key features of the Web of Science Research Assistant include:
• Flexible Document Search: Users can perform natural language searches across various languages, with the tool synthesizing over a century of research to present key trends and connections.
• Guided Prompts and Tasks: Context-specific suggestions like “Understand a topic” and “Find a journal” help users streamline their research processes, enabling them to focus on specific goals.
• Unique Data Visualizations: Researchers can explore topics using visual tools such as trend graphs, topic maps, and co-citation networks, providing new perspectives and deeper insights into their areas of study.
Developed in collaboration with researchers and librarians globally, the tool underwent beta testing in December 2023 to ensure it meets the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and privacy. Clarivate will continue to gather feedback from the research community to refine and enhance the assistant.
