Wolters Kluwer Health continues its push to revolutionize healthcare delivery with the launch of an enhanced, AI-powered version of its UpToDate® Enterprise Edition. The latest iteration of this clinical decision support (CDS) solution promises to provide more tailored patient care guidance for clinicians and data-driven insights for healthcare leaders. The upgraded features will be showcased at HLTH 2024 in Las Vegas from October 21-23.
UpToDate’s new AI enhancements are designed to speed up the decision-making process for clinicians who rely on rapid, evidence-based answers. By introducing a natural language search capability, developed in collaboration with AI Labs for UpToDate, the new feature allows users to ask complex medical questions more naturally. The AI interprets these queries with increased accuracy, delivering highly relevant answers derived directly from UpToDate’s trusted content.
Clinicians will benefit from verbatim, AI-powered responses that pull from over two million users’ trusted clinical guidance. This streamlined access to vital information reduces the time spent on digital devices, freeing up more time for patient care. With quicker and more focused answers, the upgraded UpToDate solution continues to be an indispensable resource for medical professionals.
For healthcare administrators, the expanded version of UpToDate Enterprise Edition includes a newly enhanced analytics dashboard, which provides comprehensive systemwide utilization data. The dashboard offers easy-to-read visualizations, allowing healthcare leaders to monitor usage patterns and track how clinical teams utilize the UpToDate platform. This feature helps identify variances in performance compared to national and internal benchmarks, offering insights that can guide quality improvement initiatives and optimize patient care.
Hospital administrators can also use this data to better understand care teams’ focus areas, particularly regarding chronic conditions and frequently prescribed medications. This actionable insight empowers hospitals to proactively support their clinical teams, improving the overall quality of care.
The solution’s new user interface, dubbed the UpToDate Enterprise Edition Portal, also comes with enhanced customization features. Hospital leaders now have quicker and easier access to essential clinical topics, drug monographs, and patient education content. The portal’s intuitive design includes curated content segments and spotlights new clinical guidance to facilitate more effective practice changes.
Wolters Kluwer has also partnered with industry innovators such as Wellsheet and Abridge to further integrate UpToDate content with AI-powered ambient listening and clinical workflow solutions. These collaborations aim to reduce clinicians’ administrative workloads, allowing them to focus more on patient care. By embedding UpToDate’s trusted, evidence-based guidance into AI-generated clinical notes and workflows, Wolters Kluwer enhances the efficiency of healthcare providers.
The new features and enhancements will be available to UpToDate Enterprise Edition customers starting in November 2024.
