Pensoft Publishers and Southern eDNA Society partner to advance environmental DNA Research -

In a landmark collaboration, Pensoft Publishers and the Southern eDNA Society (SeDNAs) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote environmental DNA (eDNA) research. The partnership aims to accelerate the development and application of eDNA technologies, enhance the visibility of eDNA research, and contribute to global biodiversity conservation efforts.

The Southern eDNA Society, a rapidly growing organization with around 200 members, is dedicated to fostering communication and collaboration in the evolving field of eDNA. Through this partnership, SeDNAs will benefit from Pensoft’s expertise as an open-access publisher and their established scholarly platform, ARPHA.

Pensoft publishes over 35 peer-reviewed journals, including Metabarcoding and Metagenomics (MBMG), a leading journal in the field. With a CiteScore of 5.4 and indexing in Web of Science and Scopus, MBMG features high-quality research on metabarcoding and metagenomics, combining basic and applied perspectives.

The partnership will focus on:

• Enhancing Research Dissemination: Pensoft will help publicize SeDNAs-hosted conferences and facilitate the publication of special issues or topical collections in MBMG.

• Increasing Research Visibility: Cross-promotion of activities between the organizations will foster greater engagement within the eDNA research community.

• Supporting Researchers: SeDNA members will receive discounts on article processing charges for publishing in MBMG, encouraging the dissemination of their work in an open-access format.

Pensoft has a track record of fostering collaborations with organizations dedicated to conservation science. The recent partnership between Pensoft and the Infrastructure & Ecology Network Europe (IENE) led to the publication of special issues in Nature Conservation, showcasing research from IENE’s conferences.

The collaboration is expected to create a vibrant platform for sharing cutting-edge eDNA research, advancing the field, and strengthening global efforts to understand and protect our planet’s biodiversity.
