Taylor & Francis journals now accessible to researchers across 6,500 Indian institutions through One Nation One Subscription -

Leading international publisher Taylor & Francis has announced a landmark achievement in academic research accessibility. Over 2,500 peer-reviewed journals are now available to researchers, faculty, and students at more than 6,500 institutions across India, thanks to the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative.

Launched by the Indian government, ONOS is a pioneering program designed to provide nationwide access to high-quality international scholarly research. The initiative spans Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) managed by both central and state governments, as well as Research and Development (R&D) Institutions under the central government. The inclusion of Taylor & Francis journals into ONOS is a significant step in democratizing access to global research for India’s academic community.

This collaboration opens the door to some of the world’s most influential research publications, particularly in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences, where Taylor & Francis holds one of the largest portfolios. The move is expected to greatly enhance the availability of cutting-edge research across various disciplines, providing India-based researchers with valuable resources to drive innovation and academic growth.

The accessibility of Taylor & Francis journals is poised to make a profound impact on India’s growing international research presence. The publisher has witnessed a consistent year-on-year growth of 20% in journal articles authored by Indian researchers. In 2024, India ranked third in Taylor & Francis publications, only behind the United States and China, underscoring the country’s increasing global contribution to academic knowledge.

With ONOS now providing expanded access to these journals, Taylor & Francis envisions an even more significant boost to research output and global collaborations from Indian researchers. This initiative is not only set to accelerate research innovation but also contribute to global research equity, providing scholars in India with the tools and resources they need to thrive in the academic world.

Looking ahead, Taylor & Francis has committed to further strengthening its partnership with the Indian government. The publisher has expressed its dedication to supporting the next phases of ONOS, which will include enhancements to open access publishing and expanding content access to include a wider range of academic resources.

As India continues to build its presence in global research, initiatives like ONOS and partnerships with global publishers are poised to drive significant progress in academic excellence and innovation.
