MDPI to publish the International Journal of Orofacial Myology and Myofunctional Therapy -

MDPI has been selected as the official publisher of the International Journal of Orofacial Myology and Myofunctional Therapy. The partnership will take effect in January 2025.

Established in 1975, IJOM transitioned to an open-access publication in 2020 and remains the only journal worldwide dedicated exclusively to orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs). These disorders encompass a range of conditions, including abnormal tongue and lip resting postures, tongue thrusting during swallowing, oral habits, oral breathing, and oropharyngeal airway compromise during sleep.

Under MDPI’s gold open-access model, IJOM authors will retain full copyright ownership of their work and benefit from unrestricted public access to their published research. While article processing charges (APCs) apply, IAOM members will receive a 25% discount, and APC waivers may be available for qualifying authors. Researchers facing financial constraints are encouraged to contact IAOM (ijom@iaom.com) for further assistance.

The journal’s Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Nancy Pearl Solomon, has emphasized that MDPI’s publishing infrastructure and support will enhance IJOM’s global visibility, improve peer review and publication timelines, and aid in the journal’s indexing efforts. IJOM’s Editorial Board Members will continue in their roles, ensuring continuity in scientific oversight and editorial direction.
