Clarivate Plc, a global provider of transformative intelligence, has announced a multi-year agreement with the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN), a consortium representing libraries and research institutions across Canada. The partnership, effective through 2029, provides 55 Canadian universities with expanded access to the Web of Science platform, aimed at strengthening research collaboration and accessibility across member institutions.
The Web of Science platform, known for its publisher-neutral citation index—the Web of Science Core Collection—serves as a foundational tool for connecting developments throughout the research lifecycle. It enables discovery across a broad range of content types, including journal articles, conference papers, books, dissertations, datasets, patents, preprints, awarded grants, and policy documents.
The agreement includes extended access to the Web of Science API, allowing researchers at CRKN member institutions to leverage detailed metadata to support research activities. Additional resources such as the Derwent Innovations Index and the Policy Citation Index will help researchers better assess the societal impact of their work.
Craig Olsvik, Director of Content Program at CRKN, expressed satisfaction with the renewed agreement, highlighting the benefits of expanded access for Canadian researchers. He noted that inclusion of the Web of Science API will enhance the research support available to member institutions.
Bar Veinstein, President of Academia and Government at Clarivate, emphasized Canada’s prominent and collaborative role in global academic research. He stated that the agreement reflects Clarivate’s commitment to providing Canadian institutions and researchers with the essential tools and resources to advance innovation, discovery, and societal impact.
