Wiley study identifies gaps in organizational readiness for AI transformation -

Wiley has published new survey findings through its Wiley Workplace Intelligence report highlighting concerns around employee change fatigue, particularly in the context of ongoing artificial intelligence (AI) adoption. The report, “Navigating the AI Era: Five Key Insights for Managing Change,” presents responses from 1,685 individuals across North America and indicates that 67% of employees anticipate more changes ahead, with 35% reporting high stress.

The data suggest that repeated organizational disruptions—exacerbated by the rapid deployment of AI tools—are leading to a potential “cascade crisis,” where employees face continuous strain without sufficient recovery time. Managers are identified as especially vulnerable, with over half feeling responsible for managing change, though fewer than half feel supported by senior leadership.

Although 68% of employees express curiosity or excitement about AI, organizational readiness appears limited. Only 18% of respondents report receiving comprehensive change training, while a third are unaware of their company’s AI policies.

Wiley recommends the implementation of structured AI policies, leadership-supported training programs, and stronger communication strategies to build resilience. It emphasizes the need for clear recovery windows between disruptions and empowering middle management with relevant tools and information.
