The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has announced the launch of ACM AI Letters (AILET), a new open access journal now accepting submissions. The publication is designed to provide a rapid review and dissemination model for short, impactful communications in artificial intelligence.
The journal aims to bridge the gap between conferences and traditional journals by featuring concise peer-reviewed contributions covering theoretical advances, algorithmic innovation, real-world applications, and societal implications such as ethics, governance, and responsible AI. It will also include opinion pieces and policy briefs reviewed through an accelerated editorial process.
ACM AI Letters welcomes concise summaries of work in the following areas:
• Algorithmic Advances: Significant algorithmic and scientific advances in AI.
• Theoretical AI: Reports on theoretical breakthroughs in AI.
• Practical Applications: Novel or deployed applications in healthcare, finance, robotics, and autonomous systems.
• AI & Society: Applications addressing societal challenges such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
• Emerging Topics: Areas including AI ethics, explainable AI, policy, governance, and responsible AI in practice.
For its first three years, AILET will operate under a no-fee open access model. The editorial leadership includes Nitesh Chawla of the University of Notre Dame, Barry O’Sullivan of University College Cork, and Richa Singh of IIT Jodhpur, supported by an international advisory and editorial board to ensure rigorous peer review.
The launch expands ACM’s publishing portfolio of more than 60 scholarly journals and reflects its emphasis on rapid communication of computing research across both theoretical and applied domains.
