Frontiers participates in Indo-Swiss workshop on research integrity and responsible AI in New Delhi -

Frontiers has brought its global expertise in research integrity and responsible artificial intelligence to the Indo-Swiss Workshop on “Research Integrity in the Age of AI,” held on October 10, 2025, at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre in New Delhi, India. Organized by Frontiers in partnership with the Indian National Young Academy of Sciences (INYAS) and Swissnex in India, the event gathered policymakers, scientists, and publishers from India and Switzerland to discuss responsible AI use in research and ways to strengthen trust in science.

Frontiers contributed to the workshop discussions. Dr. Frederick Fenter, Chief Executive Editor of Frontiers, delivered the welcome remarks and joined a high-level panel on “Publication Ethics and Open Science: Navigating the Publishing World with Integrity.” Dr. Marie Soulière, Head of Editorial Ethics and Quality Assurance at Frontiers and Council Member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), presented on “AI in Research and Publishing: Insights for Tomorrow,” sharing Frontiers’ use of human-in-the-loop AI systems to detect and prevent research fraud.

Dr. Fenter highlighted that integrity underpins scientific progress and has explained that artificial intelligence can accelerate discovery only when applied transparently and responsibly. He indicated that Frontiers is working to leverage AI to support open science and integrity as drivers of collaboration and trust.

Dr. Soulière noted that Frontiers’ approach integrates intelligent detection tools with expert human assessment, including image analysis and papermill detection. She added that these systems assist editors and reviewers in maintaining publication quality, with the overarching aim of protecting scientific integrity.

The workshop featured a lineup of speakers including Ambassador Maya Tissafi, Ambassador of Switzerland to India and Bhutan; Dr. Dhananjay Singh, Member Secretary of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR); etc. By bringing together perspectives from India and Switzerland, the event emphasized a shared commitment by two research-intensive countries to uphold research integrity in the era of artificial intelligence and open science.
