The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) has expanded global collaboration in virology research through new partnerships with the Korean Society of Virology (KSoV) and the Australasian Virology Society (AVS).
Under the agreements, ASM’s Journal of Virology (JVI) will serve as an affiliated journal for both societies. The partnerships increase the number of active collaborations between ASM and virology societies to four, building on existing relationships with the American Society for Virology (ASV) and the Gesellschaft für Virologie (GfV).
The collaborations aim to strengthen international cooperation in virology research while expanding the visibility and impact of research published in JVI. The journal publishes research covering viruses that affect animals, archaea, bacteria, fungi, plants and protozoa.
Members of the partner societies will receive a range of benefits associated with the journal. These include discounts on individual subscriptions, page charges, supplemental material hosting and the purchase of reprints and electronic prints.
The partnerships also support broader collaboration among virologists by connecting researchers from different regions through shared publishing and research initiatives. Through the affiliated journal relationship, members of the Korean Society of Virology and the Australasian Virology Society will have expanded opportunities to contribute research and engage with the international virology community.
Leaders from the participating societies indicated that the collaboration will strengthen global scientific exchange while expanding opportunities for researchers to connect and collaborate across regions.
ASM and the partner societies stated that the collaborations are expected to promote scientific cooperation, support the advancement of virology research and increase engagement within the global microbial sciences community.
