Cochrane selects Laser AI and Nested Knowledge for evidence synthesis platform study -

Cochrane has selected two AI tools, Laser AI and Nested Knowledge, for inclusion in a platform study examining how artificial intelligence may support evidence synthesis workflows. The tools were selected from 48 submissions received in late 2025 through a selection process aligned with Responsible AI in Evidence SynthEsis (RAISE) principles, with five additional tools placed on a reserve list.

Participation in the study does not constitute endorsement, and Cochrane has stated that the use of AI must not compromise methodological rigor or the integrity of systematic reviews. Guidance issued in March 2026 outlines how AI tools may be used across the stages of the review process, including categories such as acceptable use, use requiring human verification, and inappropriate use.

Initial training has begun with two review author teams, with pilot testing planned before broader rollout. Interim findings are expected in mid-2026, with final results later in the year.
