Elsevier completes acquisition of Mytonomy -

Elsevier has completed its acquisition of Mytonomy, a provider of video‑based patient engagement solutions for healthcare systems and health plans. The agreement, first announced in March, combines Elsevier’s clinical content and healthcare offerings with Mytonomy’s cloud platform and micro‑learning resources.

Mytonomy will be integrated into Elsevier’s Clinical Solutions portfolio, which includes PatientPass. The combined offering is intended to create a continuum from clinician decision support to patient education and engagement, supporting both provider‑facing and patient‑facing needs. Health systems and plans are expected to benefit from a single partner addressing clinical knowledge and patient adherence requirements.

Omry Bigger, President of Clinical Solutions at Elsevier, stated that the collaboration with Mytonomy would strengthen patient engagement solutions by combining Elsevier’s clinical expertise with Mytonomy’s platform and content. He noted that the integration would provide healthcare systems with new ways to educate and support patients.

The expanded patient engagement resources are designed to help reduce preventable readmissions, improve adherence, and lower overall costs of care. Studies have shown that avoidable readmissions cost U.S. hospitals more than $52 billion annually, and structured engagement can reduce 30‑day readmission rates by up to 31%. At one academic medical center, 73% of surveyed patients reported that Mytonomy’s video education supported adherence to care plans after discharge.

As care delivery increasingly extends beyond hospital settings, providers require scalable and personalized engagement methods. Mytonomy’s platform addresses this need through curated video‑based microlearning, multilingual content, and personalization features. The integration with Elsevier is expected to help healthcare systems meet Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) goals, quality and safety requirements, and patient experience benchmarks.

Mytonomy’s platform is currently used across U.S. health systems and health plans, supporting engagement in oncology, cardiovascular care, orthopedics, maternity and women’s health, behavioral health, pediatrics, and other high‑acuity service lines, as well as chronic and common conditions in ambulatory and home health settings. Its resources include thousands of clinician‑developed handouts and short‑form videos reviewed against evidence‑based guidelines, aligning with Elsevier’s quality standards.

Both Mytonomy Cloud for Healthcare and Elsevier’s PatientPass will continue to be supported, with deeper integrations planned across the solution portfolio over time.
