Royal Society Publishing has renewed its multi‑year partnership with Cassyni, introducing contextual video embeds across its Silverchair‑hosted article pages. Readers of journals such as Royal Society Open Science, Proceedings B, and Journal of the Royal Society Interface can now watch author seminars directly alongside the articles, supported by Cassyni’s AI‑powered captions, transcripts, and seminar‑grounded Q&A.
The program spans both journal‑led series and Interdisciplinary topic series, including Ecology & Evolution, Fluid Mechanics, and History of Science. Recordings combine live keynote events with pre‑recorded author seminars, offering readers insight into the research community around a topic as well as the paper itself.
The embed is dynamic, requiring no per‑article configuration. Depending on context, it plays an available seminar, surfaces RSVP options for upcoming talks, or highlights recent recordings and community events. Picture‑in‑picture functionality allows the video to follow readers as they scroll, ensuring the author’s explanation runs in parallel with the paper.
Within the embed, readers can access Cassyni’s multilingual captions, searchable transcripts, slide‑aware playback, and Ask the Seminar Q&A without leaving the article page. Each recording carries a Crossref DOI and is indexed in Dimensions, EndNote, and OpenAlex, making seminars citable alongside the underlying paper.
All seminars are free access, complementing Royal Society Publishing’s adoption of the Subscribe to Open model across its eight subscription journals.
