The Beilstein‑Institut has announced a partnership with GroundedAI to enhance the accuracy and reliability of citations in its publications. The collaboration will integrate GroundedAI’s Veracity tool into Beilstein’s editorial processes, providing automated checks for metadata mismatches, unresolved or irrelevant citations, and potential issues with self‑citation. The tool is designed to support editors in verifying the existence, relevance, and accuracy of references, thereby saving time and reinforcing scientific integrity.
GroundedAI’s Veracity product is currently used by eleven academic publishers and software vendors to verify submissions at the point of entry. It reviews every citation for accuracy, honesty, and relevance, and identifies errors that may result from fraudulent or careless use of AI.
Wendy Patterson, Scientific Director at the Beilstein‑Institut, explained that Veracity offers a semi‑automated layer of quality control, enabling editors to focus less on manual cross‑checking and more on evaluating the scientific merit of research. She noted that the partnership reflects Beilstein’s commitment to transparency and integrity in scholarly publishing.
