JMIR Publications signs three‑year open science partnership with MetaROR -

JMIR Publications has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a three‑year partnership with MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review). The collaboration will integrate MetaROR’s publish‑review‑curate platform with JMIR’s publishing ecosystem, particularly its JMIRx overlay journal series, including JMIRx Med and JMIRx Bio.

The partnership is intended to advance open science, strengthen the transparency of peer review, and enhance recognition for reviewers’ contributions. Under the agreement, JMIRx journals will expedite editorial processing for submissions that have undergone open peer review via MetaROR, using MetaROR’s review reports to streamline publication pathways.

Tiffany I. Leung, MD, MPH, FAMIA, Scientific Editorial Director at JMIR Publications, explained that partnering with MetaROR aligns with JMIR’s mission to promote open science and transparency in scholarly publishing. She noted that integrating MetaROR’s open peer review capabilities into the JMIRx overlay series provides authors with a faster and high‑quality editorial process.

MetaROR has listed JMIR’s overlay journals as official partner journals on its platform. Both organizations will collaborate on community outreach and scholarly presentations to highlight the long‑term benefits of transparent peer review systems.

Ludo Waltman, PhD, Co‑Editor‑in‑Chief of MetaROR, stated that JMIR Publications and its JMIRx journals fit well with MetaROR’s commitment to preprinting and open peer review. He emphasized that the partnership aims to create a more efficient and collaborative environment for researchers and reviewers.
