PNAS joins GetFTR to enhance research discovery and access -

The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) has partnered with Get Full Text Research (GetFTR), expanding the network of scholarly publishers and platforms that support streamlined access to academic content.

PNAS, one of the most widely cited multidisciplinary journals, now integrates with GetFTR to improve discovery and access to peer‑reviewed research. Through this collaboration, researchers can more easily identify and obtain trusted content when encountering PNAS articles across participating tools such as Web of Science and Scopus, as well as through broader platforms including search engines, AI assistants, and discovery services. The GetFTR browser extension also signals when the version of record is available, whether via subscription, open access, or free content, reducing barriers in the research process.

PNAS has incorporated GetFTR links within article references, enabling readers to quickly determine which cited works are accessible. Published by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, PNAS disseminates research across the biological, physical, and social sciences, publishing more than 3,500 papers annually for a global audience that includes scientists, policymakers, and clinicians.

Representatives from both organizations noted that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving efficiency in research access while maintaining rights management and publisher integrity. PNAS emphasized its mission to advance science by broad dissemination of high‑quality research, while GetFTR highlighted the importance of adding a journal of PNAS’s stature to its initiative.
