The American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) has chosen Oxford University Press (OUP) as its new publishing partner beginning in January 2027. OUP will manage the production and dissemination of ASHG’s two journals, The American Journal of Human Genetics (AJHG) and Human Genetics and Genomics Advances (HGG Advances). ASHG will retain full editorial control and responsibility for peer review to ensure the journals continue to reflect the Society’s standards of scientific rigor and integrity.
OUP representatives noted that the collaboration will broaden the reach of ASHG’s journals and support the Society’s mission to serve the global human genetics and genomics community.
For more than 75 years, AJHG has published influential discoveries and perspectives in human genetics, while HGG Advances provides an open‑access platform for rapid publication of diverse research findings. ASHG leadership emphasized that the partnership with OUP will expand visibility and impact while maintaining editorial independence and scientific standards.
The collaboration is intended to strengthen accessibility and long‑term success for both journals, ensuring they remain trusted platforms for advancing human genetics and genomics research worldwide.
