The University of Northampton has selected Jisc’s learning analytics and attendance monitoring service for institution‑wide use, with full rollout scheduled for the start of the 2026/27 academic year.
The university is currently piloting the platform and will extend access to all students from September. The system consolidates engagement, attendance, and institutional data into a single environment, replacing two separate systems with one integrated solution.
Jisc’s learning analytics combines attendance monitoring, engagement dashboards, reporting and analytics, case management, and a student app. The platform enables universities to identify students who may need additional support earlier, manage interventions at scale, strengthen compliance monitoring, and support evidence‑based decision making.
The University of Northampton joins other UK higher education institutions already using Jisc’s learning analytics, including Abertay University, Bournemouth University, City St George’s University of London, the University of Salford, the University of South Wales, and the University of Suffolk.
Alexandra Vujcich, Director of Digital, Data and Transformation, explained that the project is a key part of the university’s Digital & Data Strategy. She highlighted that the implementation replaced separate systems with a single platform and emphasized that the next phase would focus on embedding the platform across the institution to build on the insights it provides.
James Hodgkin, Head of Analytics at Jisc, commented that universities are increasingly seeking institution‑wide insight to better understand student engagement, support wellbeing, and improve outcomes. He noted that the University of Northampton’s adoption of the platform reflects this trend, with learning analytics providing staff with the information needed to make timely, informed decisions.
