Sage and OpenEvidence collaborate to provide peer-reviewed research at point of care -

Sage, an independent academic publisher of peer‑reviewed research across health, medical, and social sciences, has announced a partnership with OpenEvidence, a widely used medical AI platform among U.S. physicians. The agreement will make content from more than 300 Sage journals available within OpenEvidence, enabling clinicians to access evidence directly at the point of care with citations linking back to the original articles.

The collaboration addresses a challenge in clinical practice: the volume of published medical research often exceeds what individual clinicians can track, and evidence may take years to be incorporated into routine care. By integrating Sage’s portfolio into OpenEvidence, the partnership aims to shorten the path from publication to practice.

The addition of Sage journals expands the range of specialty literature available through OpenEvidence, supporting physicians in answering clinical questions with deeper evidence. Bob Howard, Executive Vice President of Global Journals at Sage, emphasized that the publisher is committed to making research accessible in ways that are useful to clinicians. He noted that integrating Sage content into OpenEvidence extends the reach of the research and ensures it is available where clinicians need it most.

Sage will license journals from key societies, including the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, World Stroke Organization, American Society of Neurorehabilitation, International Headache Society, Australian Society of Anaesthetists, International Society for Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism, Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists, and International Society of Endovascular Specialists.

OpenEvidence, currently used by 60% of practicing U.S. physicians, will surface Sage content when clinically relevant, alongside other peer‑reviewed literature already available on the platform. Each response citing Sage research will link back to the underlying article.
